Why Volunteer
As a Tour Guide I have taken many groups to Asia and we have seen many very poor people in cities and villages. The one question I am asked at the end of a tour is “How can we help”. I also felt the need to help and give something back to the community. This is why I have done the research and started my work in poor schools and NGOs, mainly in India. The large charities do good work but I believe nowadays that people want to be part of the process. When I take my groups to schools, villages and orphanages, they say that this is one of their most fulfilling and memorable travel experiences.
Not everyone wants to give up a year or 6 months of their lives so we have arranged for anyone to volunteer for a day, a week, a month or 6 months. It all counts. Not all volunteers are gap year students. Many people in their 50’s, 60’s 70’s would like to have this experience and put their head down in a decent hotel at the end of the day. We can arrange your volunteer experience or you can Tour and Volunteer.
Our Projects
Schools in Sawai Madhpur
Help out daily in one our sponsored schools. We have already done a lot of work donating books, school bags, uniforms and even computers to these poor schools.
I-India Online – this NGO in Jaipur helps 3000 street kids every day and volunteers are always welcome. Set up by Mr and Mrs Goswami who are both professors of sociology, this NGO started with just a rickshaw going around the slums with books and food. It has now grown and has shelters and schools.
